Description
English: The Mayor's Parlour, The Guildhall, South Molton, Devon. The entire room was removed from Stowe House, Kilkhampton, Cornwall, demolished in 1739. The Guildhall in South Molton was designed 1739-41 by Mr Cullen. The Mayor's Parlour has gilded panelling, decorated plaster ceiling, four pedimented doorcases with overmantel painting of Atalanta presented with the head of the Caledonian Boar by Meleager. Capriccio scenes in small rectangular panels above the doors. (Pevsner, N, The Buildings of England, London, 2004, p.749)
