| Description |
English: At dinnertime on a May 2022 evening, a long lone of customers waits for service at the McDonald's outlet at the Schuyler Service Area of the New York State Thruway, while signs advise them that the restaurant's "crew and managers are dealing with higher than normal restaurant traffic at a time when staffing levels are a challenge". The latter is due to the Thruway's ongoing Service Area Modernization Project, whose first phase began in July 2021 and entailed the closure of ten Thruway service areas (in a staggered pattern to ensure that consecutive rest stops in a given direction would never be closed down at the same time). This has led to long lines and crowded conditions at those that remain open. The project is scheduled for completion by 2025. |
