Description
Nederlands: Mechelen, provincie Antwerpen, België. Het postgebouw, ook De(n) Beyaert genoemd. Deze laatste benaming gaat terug tot de XIIIe eeuw toen pelgrims onderdak vonden in dit gebouw waar eveneens aan ziekenzorg werd gedaan. In 1383 verwierf de stad het toen heterogene complex, liet aanpassingswerken uitvoeren om het te gebruiken voor haar administratieve diensten en hield er zelf, in beperkte mate, zittingen. In 1474 werd het pand ingericht als stadhuis. Sinds 1914 fungeert het als hoofdpostkantoor. Zie ook : [1]
