[No soredia or isidia; lower surface black; white-spot pseudocyphellae on the lobe tips; spot tests on the medulla: PD+ red, K+ pale yellow, KC-, C-] This specimen of Melanohalea olivacea was growing on bark near the Lead Mine Mountain Trail along the border line between Hancock and Washington Counties, off Route 9, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o51.470' N, Long. 68o05.914' W).
