Michael E. Arth drawing on a lithographic stone, 1974

Summary[edit]

Description
English: I used a waxy lithographic pencil to draw an image on a lithographic stone at Chuck Bryan's Lone Star Gallery and Gallahad Press in Austin, Texas, in 1975. This is the studio where I also did some of my etchings. After I finished, I dusted the image with French chalk; processed the surface with gum arabic and nitric acid to etch the stone; cleaned it with turpentine oil, wet it, inked it with a roller, and printed it under pressure onto paper. It took a number of re-inkings to bring up all the detail.
