Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Roman milestone from the year AD 121 is to be found in Buchholz forest on today's CR 153 road, which follows the path of the former Roman main road from Lyon to Trier. The stone was erected on the occasion of the trip by Emperor Hadrian through the Gallic and Germanic provinces as far as Britain in AD 121/122. The inscription on the column honours the emperor and shows the distance to Trier, 25 Roman miles (37 km): “For the Emperor and Caesar, son of the divine / Parthian conqueror Trajan, / grandson of the divine Nerva, / for Trajan Hadrian, / 5 Augustus, the highest priest / with the power of a tribune / for the 5th time, and consul for the 5th time. / From the Colonia Augusta / 10 of the Treveri / 25 miles." The column on the site is actually a copy, the original being placed in Luxembourg museum.
