| Description | The Miller-Davis Law Buildings in Bloomington (1843). Built by James Miller and David Davis, they were the second and third brick business buildings in Bloomington. Today, they are the oldest buildings in downtown Bloomington and the only non-residential example of 1840s architecture in the county. The main building was built by Miller, who would later become Illinois State Treasurer. The second floor was used by various law firms, including Gridley & Scott; Asahel Gridley later served 18 years on the Illinois Supreme Court. David Davis built the second building for his offices. He operated here until rising to the bench in 1848. |
