English: Miloslav Zatřepálek (* February 7, 1908, Chotěboř - November 19, 1956, Prague) was an intelligence officer in the Czechoslovak army during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, who joined the domestic resistance as part of the illegal military organisation Defence of the Nation. He was active in anti-German activities from September 1939 to March 1945, spent 1,335 days underground, and escaped many times from the Gestapo, who finally arrested him just before the end of World War II. He lived to see the liberation of Czechoslovakia with honour, but after February 1948 he was retired early, had to leave the Czechoslovak army with the rank of colonel of the general staff, and was found dead in Prague in 1956 under unclear circumstances with a gunshot wound to the heart. |
