Songe de Charlemagne (en arrière-plan à gauche):
Saint Jacques le Majeur apparaît en songe à Charlemagne endormi à l'intérieur du palais. Le saint révèle à l'empereur que sa sépulture en Galice est aux mains des sarrasins et il lui demande de délivrer sa terre.

Miracle au siège de Pampelune en 778:

Le siège de Pampelune ayant déjà duré trois mois, Charlemagne, sous sa tente, adresse une prière à saint Jacques le Majeur. Le pouvoir intercesseur du saint se manifeste aussitôt par la chute des murailles de la ville assiégée.
