Description
Svenska: Till de underutvecklade länderna brukar inte Sverige räknas. Men i ett fall betraktas det av FN som ett sådant, nämligen beträffande arbetsterapien. Därför har föreningen för arbets- och sysstelsättningsterapi genom Svenska institutets förmedling fått bidrag av FN och Folke Bernadottes minnesfond och kunnat arrangera en mycket epokgörande kurs, vilken nu pågått ett par veckor på Karolinska sjukhuset, där den samlat trettiotvå terapeuter från hela landet. Fem timmar dagligen har Miss MacCaul föreläst för de trettiotvå. Hon är chefsarbetsterapeut vid King's Collage i London och en av de få arbetsterapeuter som även är utbildade sjukgymnaster. Miss MacCaul är specialist inom det område av terapien, som nog försummats i Sverige, nämligen arbetsterapien. Här gäller det att ge patienten möjlighet att fortsätta inom sitt yrke. "Som vår plåtslagare" säger Miss MacCaul, när hon gör en föreläsningspaus för att berätta om sitt arbete för SvD:s medarbetare.
