亀甲紋は亀の甲羅のような正六角形の連続紋四様から紋章化したもの。古代より世界中で使用された文様で日本には大陸から伝わり、５世紀以降の古墳からもその図柄が出土している。幾何学的な美しさと長寿の亀の甲羅を連想させる単純な形で瑞祥的な意義により家紋となった。
