Typical electrical layout of 60-solar cell PV modules including bypass diodes

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bypass diodes protect every string block of 20 cells in series in commercial 60-cell modules. When a part of a single string is shaded, its bypass diode conducts and diverts the current from the other two string blocks through it, to avoid an excessive reverse bias and a high local power dissipation at the shaded cells.
