日本語: 丸に蔦 蔦紋は、日本十大紋の一つに数えられるほどに。蔦は蔓科の植物で、他の樹木や建物につたわってどんどんはびこることから、生命力の強い縁起のよい植物として家紋に採用されたようだ。一説に蔦紋の発祥は、桐紋を用いることをはばかって、桐紋の花の部分を取り去り、それに替えて葉を二枚加えたことが始まりだとするものもある。蔦は、紅葉すると楓に似ているので、別名をツタカエデあるいは地錦などともよばれる。 これほどに愛された蔦紋だけに、そのバリエーションも多く、約五百種を数えている。そのなかで一番ポピュラーなものが、五葉の蔦紋だが、葉に切り込みの多いものを特に「鬼蔦」とよんでいる。 |
