Description

Document BANQ / Montreal Map: James Cane 1846. Le détail de cette carte nous montre les installations de l'Industriel John Molson dans le secteur Est de l'ancien faubourg Québec au milieu du XIXè siècle. La famille Molson jouit dans le faubourg d'une enviable renommée. À son arrivée dans le pays en 1782, John Molson achète d'un autre Irlandais, Thomas Loyd, la petite brasserie du Pied-du-Courant. Sous le régime français, les brasseries n'ont jamais été prospères, les colons préférant vins et spiritueux. Après la conquête, la venue des Loyalistes et des troupes britanniques relance l'industrie de la bière.
