Italiano: Al centro del grandioso Chiostro VI, il 28 ottobre 1932 venne inaugurato il monumento ai martiri della rivoluzione fascista, progettato dall’architetto Giulio Ulisse Arata (1881-1962), e con sculture di Ercole Drei (1886-1973). Il chiostro VI venne realizzato a partire dal 1901 e venne terminato negli anni venti del secolo; l'area centrale inizialmente era adibita alla normale inumazione a terra con lapidi a stele, e quindi è plausibile che nel progetto originario non fosse previsto la presenza 'ingombrante' di altri complessi monumentali. Il fascismo bolognese volle celebrare la marcia su Roma con la solenne traslazione, nel nuovo sacrario della Certosa, delle salme dei caduti per la causa del fascismo.
Il sacrario si presenta come un vasto ipogeo sovrastato dall'Ara dei Caduti. La struttura architettonica povera di decorazioni e dai volumi semplici e dall'aspetto monolitico fu tra i progetti che l'architetto Arata ritenne tra i più riusciti del suo ampio catalogo di opere. Particolarmente felice è la collaborazione con lo scultore Ercole Drei, che seppe inserirsi armonicamente con le due grandiose allegorie della Forza (a sinistra) e della Gloria (a destra). La struttura fu costruita grazie ad una sottoscrizione pubblica ed è interamente eseguita in travertino di forte spessore, quando non monolitico. Nel corso del tempo il monumento non ha subito nessuna modifica ad eccezione dell'epigrafe a rilievo che si trovava sulla facciata principale, con tutta probabilità distrutta immediatamente dopo la fine del secondo conflitto mondiale. |
