Description

I say "South Bay" but if you reflect on Runway 28 for a moment, you'll see that its 280 magnetic, 10 degrees North of due West, and the reciprocal, which must be where the glide-slope is, is 100 magnetic, 10 degrees South of due East. Thus, the Moon, rising South of East (Northern hemisphere), came off the horizon nearer the center of the picture.

It's also true that the correction from. Magnetic to True North in the Bay Area is around 17 degrees. Which is "2" in runway numbers. So to the extent the South Bay is actually South of SFO, it's over to the right and out of the frame. But its really the South East Bay, SF being to the West, and the East Bay is really North East. That said, Highway 880 / 17 does run more or less North-South. But 101 and 280 do NOT!
