[edit]DescriptionMoosbrunn SW Antenna-Original.jpg |
English: Shortwave broadcasting antenna at the Moosbrunn shortwave transmitting station of the Austrian Broadcasting Service (Österreichischen Rundfunksender GmbH, ORS), Moosbrunn, Austria. This is a curtain antenna, consisting of multiple wire dipole elements in front of a vertical curtain reflector of parallel wires. It radiates a beam of radio waves at a shallow angle above the horizon, which is reflected by the ionosphere and returns to Earth beyond the horizon. The entire antenna is mounted on a truss which turns on a spindle so it can be turned to different directions.
