Description
English: Composite size comparison of Mosasaurus species. KUVP 1034 is based on skull lengths from measurements recorded in Ikejiri & Lucas (2014), with body scaled based on rough reconstruction of M. hoffmannii by SaltieCroc using the M. missouriensis specimen TMP 2012.010.0001 and other Mosasaurus specimens as a proxy. M. hoffmannii body is scaled based on the same model. CCMGE 10/2469 is based on skull measurements by Grigoriev (2014). MNHN AC 9648 based on scale provided by PWNZ3R-Dragon on DeviantArt. M. lemonnieri body is roughly based on ratios provided by Dollo (1892). IRSNB 3189 and IRSNB R 28 based on measurements provided by Lingham-Soliar (2000). Sizing the Mosasaurus is difficult as there is little reliable scientific literature that works on measuring the lengths of the genus, and potentially key specimens are not easily accessible or well-described. As a result, much of what is depicted here is derived from the work of amateur paleoartists that have been interested in providing reconstructions of Mosasaurus. If possible, revision of the body proportions of each species in this scale is encouraged when needed.
