This photograph depicts the collapsed roof and remaining debris of Motif Number 1, a fishing shack built in the 1840s and a longtime favorite painting subject of artists, after it succumbed to storm conditions during the "Blizzard of '78." The building was located on Bradley Wharf in Rockport, Massachusetts. A replica of the shack was constructed to replace the original structure later in 1978. |
