Description

Tin-glazed earthenware tile, transfer printed in black, of actress and dancer Mary Bulkley (1747/8-1792) as Angelina in Love's Labour's Lost, 1777-1780. Tile made in Liverpool.

She was born Mary Wilford; her two married names were Bulkley and Barrisford. She was known professionally as Mrs Bulkley. Her biography is here.
