Summary[edit]

Description

Mount Bachelor lies in the Cascade Range, within Deschutes County, in Oregon. It is located south of the Three Sisters complex volcano, and reaches an elevation of 9,068 feet. On the western slopes, precipitation ranges from 80 to 125 inches (200 to 320 cm) annually, while precipitation over the eastern slopes varies from 40 to 80 inches (100 to 200 cm) in the east. Temperature extremes reach 80 to 90 °F (27 to 32 °C) in summers and −20 to −30 °F (−29 to −34 °C) during the winters. The Mount Bachelor ski area has operated on the mountain since 1958, and the volcano's summit hosts the Mount Bachelor Observatory. A center of winter recreation, the area offers snowshoeing, snow skiing, snow tubing, and dog sledding, among other activities. The summit can be reached by a climbing trail that travels over lava from the volcano.

We left our hotel in Bend at around 0430 to drive and find an area where we could best view the sunrise. We were lucky we had a nice clear morning. I needed to play around with the foreground to make it more interesting than the original look.

Licensing[edit]

Public domain
This work has been released into the public domain by the author on Flickr, where the author has declared it as a "Public Domain Work" and tagged it with the Creative Commons Public Domain Mark.
Public domain
The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.
If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.

This image, originally posted to Flickr, was reviewed on 19 April 2022 by the administrator or reviewer Ruthven, who confirmed that it was available on Flickr under the stated license on that date.
