Summary

[edit]
Description

This is a best guess for the location where Jackson photographed the Mud Geyser in eruption in 1871. In 1993, soil temperatures around the geyser skyrocketed for unexplained reasons, killing most of the trees around the feature's southern edge. The steam vents visible in the contemporary photo appeared in early 1995 as a result of the elevated thermal activity in the area. Bradly J. Boner; August 2012;
