Summary
[edit]DescriptionMunich - Electric Locomotive Cab (3258354039).jpg |
My favorite exhibit was a mockup of the cab of a German (DB) electric locomotive, probably class E-10. You could operate the controls, and a simulator showed what was happening. It was probably used for training engine drivers. The E-10 was used in major passenger services. It was later called class 110. No, that is not a steering wheel. It is a throttle, regulating the amount of power given to the locomotive. The knob to the left is the "dead man's throttle." You have to press it every so often. Otherwise it gives a warning, and if this is ignored, automatically engages the brakes to stop the train. |
