Summary
[edit]DescriptionMurray Hill Hotel after dynamite explosion 1902.jpg |
English: Photo of the northeast corner of the Murray Hill Hotel after a dynamite accident in 1902. It happened during the excavation for subway tunnels. The hotel suffered extensive damage; five people were killed by the blast-three of them at the Murray Hill Hotel. Many were also injured as a result of the accident. The shack containing the dynamite was only 25 feet away from the hotel at the time of the explosion; the hotel felt the full impact of the blast. The photo, on page 90, was published in the February 8, 1902 edition of Scientific American. The Murray Hill Hotel was built in 1884 and razed in 1945. |
