Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Enigma machine is a cipher device developed and used in the early- to mid-20th century to protect commercial, diplomatic, and military communication. It was employed extensively by Nazi Germany during World War II, in all branches of the German military. Enigma has an electromechanical rotor mechanism that scrambles the 26 letters of the alphabet. Germany introduced a series of improvements to Enigma over the years.
  • World War II 3-rotor Enigma machines
  • Destroyed Enigma
  • Enigma 4-rotor with remote
  • Enigma code machine with printer attachment
  • German World War II anti-rumour, anti-espionage campaign posters on secrecy and careless talk:
    • Schweig! (Plakat 44 der Reichspropagandaleitung H. A. Pro von 1943 Größe ca 840 mm x 580 mm)
    • Pst! Feind hört mit! (Nationalsozialistisches Propagandaplakat aus der Anti-Spionage-Kampagne "Feind hört mit"), "Shush! The Enemy is listening!", warning of espionage
    • Achtung Spione, Vorsicht bei Gesprächen! by Theo Matejko c. 1939 (Nationalsozialistische Anti-Spionage-Propaganda, 1939)
etc.
Photo taken in 2015 showing items from the exhibitions in the former International Museum of World War II in Natick, Massachusetts, a few miles west of Boston. The museum existed from 1999 to 2019 and housed a by-reservation-only collection of memorabilia and militaria consisting of over 7,000 artifacts, 100 uniforms, books, photos, etc.
