Summary[edit]

Description

NSB and NSF presented annual awards to honor outstanding research and public service contributions at an evening ceremony at the U.S. State Department on May 5, 2015. James Duderstadt, president emeritus and University Professor of science and engineering at the University of Michigan, received the 2015 Vannevar Bush Award in recognition of his leadership in science and technology and his substantial contributions to the welfare of the nation through public service activities in science, technology and public policy. Andrea Alú, an engineering professor at the University of Texas at Austin, received the 2015 Alan T. Waterman Award, which is presented to an outstanding young researcher. Two organizations, the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and the National Center for Technological Literacy, Museum of Science, Boston, were honored with 2015 Public Service awards. The award medals are pictured above.
