Summary

Description

Damage to the South Ferry 1 subway station was extensive. The rebuilding effort will take an estimated $600 million and as long as three years, and engineers are studying whether some of the vital electrical infrastructure can be moved to higher ground to guard against future flooding.

Wynton Habersham, chief electrical officer for MTA New York City Transit's subway system, offered a look at the latest status of the station on January 17, 2013.
