English: The Ambrotype is the only known Civil War street scene of Westminster just prior to the skirmish. The image includes a member of the 1st Delaware Calvary on horseback and a member of the 50th New York Engineers along Main Street in Westminster, MD. Taken before engaging in combat with Confederate cavalry under the command of J.E.B. Stuart that arrived in Westminster on June 29, 1863. The photograph was possibly taken by local photographer Grammer. From the Thomas S. Gordon family collection. |
