National Guard flood response |
Description |
U.S. Army Sgt. Tommy Willingham, a military police team leader assigned to the 132nd Military Police Company of the South Carolina Army National Guard in West Columbia, guards a road that was washed out in the flood during a statewide flood response, Oct. 11, 2015. The South Carolina National Guard has been activated to support state and county emergency management agencies and local first responders as historic flooding impacts counties statewide. There are 2,541 National Guard assets on the ground, which includes engineer support from neighbouring North Carolina, and more than 40 State Guard members supporting state flood response efforts.
