Description

Oeuvre de Koen Vanmechelen

L'artiste belge K. Vanmechelen mène depuis plusieurs années un projet scientifique et artistique de croisement successif de galinacés de diverses provenances géographiques. Ce travail artistique entend faire l'éloge de la diversité et de la mixité entre les êtres vivants.

En parallèle à ce projet sur les galinacés, un dispositif expérimental d'analyse des ressemblances entre humains a été mis en place dans la bibliothèque de l'Institut.

Le dernier croisement de galinacés a été effectué à Venise à l'occasion de la Biennale. On peut voir les cages d'élevage à Murano au sein de l'exposition Glassstress.

La tête du coq qui est né à Venise a été intégrée par l'artiste belge au Panthéon vénitien situé dans le hall de l'Institut :-)
