Description
English: A view of the British attack on the French fleet off Cape Finisterre on 14 May 1747. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48), a detailed account of the action and a key, 1-30, to the names of the ships represented in the view, together with the names of their captains.

Admiral George Anson, in command of 14 ships of the line, attacked a 30-strong French fleet commanded by Admiral de la Jonquière, on 14 May 1747 (N.S.) off Cape Finisterre. The result was a British victory with the capture of four French ships of the line, two frigates and seven merchantmen. The battle lasted five hours.
