Summary[edit]

Description One of the most unique and often overlooked types of vernacular architecture that can be found in Cincinnati's Lower Price Hill neighborhood is the one-story rowhouse, of which six separate examples exist in the neighborhood, with most being inhabited and only one being fully intact. Constructed in the 19th Century in the Italianate style, these vernacular buildings were likely built as low-cost rental housing for industrial workers and are a shorter version of the two-story rowhouses more commonly found in the city. This unique building type needs to have at least a few examples preserved, as they allow for inexpensive, efficient rental housing, and are something unique that is only very rarely found elsewhere in the city or world.
