Summary[edit]
DescriptionNeuve Eglise (51314994469).jpg |
New Zealand war artist Cecil Trevithick sketched the Western Front village of Neuve Eglise on 3 August 1917. He depicts a peaceful scene but the following year the village was captured by German troops. It was re-taken by Allied forces in September 1918. Five members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force were killed in the vicinity and are buried in the churchyard there. Shown here is Cecil Trevithick’s sketch of the village.
