| Description |
English: View of the brick station house on the southwest side of the New Dorp Lane Bridge of the New Dorp Staten Island Railway station in the New Dorp section of Staten Island, New York City. The staircases on the sides of the station house leads to the Saint George Terminal-bound platform on the left and the Tottenville-bound platform on the right. Though the station house is similar to many others from the PWA-funded and B&O influenced grade elimination projects of the 1930's, it was actually built in the late-1960's when B&O merged with C&O and WM to form the Chessie System Railroad, and was trying to dispose of subsidiaries like the Staten Island Rapid Transit.This shot was taken on October 25, 2018 from across the New Dorp Lane Bridge. The original station house is now somewhere in Historic Richmondtown. |
