Description
Nederlands: Brigadegeneraal Nico Tak is medio januari onderscheiden met de NATO Meritorious Service Medal. De directeur van het Comprehensive Crisis and Operations Management Centre (CCOMC) van het NAVO-hoofdkwartier SHAPE in België, kreeg het eerbewijs uit handen van de Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), generaal Curtis Scaparotti.

Met de medaille uit het bondgenootschap zijn waardering voor personen die zich op een uitzonderlijke manier voor de organisatie hebben ingezet. Tak, aldus de NAVO, gaf de afgelopen 2½ jaar ‘op meer dan uitstekende wijze leiding aan het CCOMC. Dat gebeurde in een turbulente periode van een snel veranderende veiligheidssituatie.’

Behalve voor hemzelf is de medaille volgens Tak ook een erkenning voor het werk van het burger- en militair personeel van het CCOMC. “Het zal niemand ontgaan zijn dat het belang van de NAVO de afgelopen jaren fors is toegenomen. Onze mensen werken hard aan de invulling daarvan.”

Het strategisch operatiecentrum CCOMC is verantwoordelijk voor de uitvoering van onder meer NAVO-missies en -operaties. Ook fungeert het als strategische antenne van SACEUR.
