Summary
[edit]DescriptionNigde museum Assyrian colonies 0901.jpg |
English: I copied one note extensively, supposing the text (and some notices in the picture) would make it possible to identify specific objects. The period lasted from 2000-1750 BC.:
Under the leadership of Assur, located south of modern Mosul, trading colonies were established in Mesopotamia, resulting in the introduction of writing in Anatolia. As a result Anatolia entered the historical age. To organize trade emporiums were founded called “Karum”, smaller ones were called “Wabartum”. Kanesh was the central Karum in Anatolia. Here luxury goods such as textiles and perfume would be brought from elsewhere, and traded for gold and silver, the transactions and such being documented in Old Assyrian cuneiform writing on clay tablets. Parties would sign these and they would be sent in clay envelops to other cities. Traders and local princes would live in splendid multi-roomed houses that were two storeys high. A high level of ceramic art was reached during this period. Seals held fine motifs of animals and humans. |
