Trait Distributions as a Manifestation of Fisher's Infinitesimal Model

| Description |
English: The cumulative effect of an increasing number of genes on a quantitative trait, demonstrating the infinitesimal and additive nature postulated by Fisher's model. Each histogram shows the trait distribution for a population, with each distribution resulting from varying numbers of contributing genes. As the number of contributing loci increases, the trait distribution progressively approximates a normal distribution. This convergence is illustrative of the Central Limit Theorem: a trait affected by a multitude of genes with small, random effects will exhibit a normal distribution. The x-axis quantifies the trait value, and the y-axis represents the density of individuals at each trait value |
