adjoining the promenade, is a neat little MineralWater Establishment, with weak chalybeate springs, efficacious incases of chlorosis and anaemia (fee 25 c. per day or per litre; bath1 fr.). Beyond the promenade lies the pleasant public Garden, withthe Villa Gamier, both bequeathed to the town by the late M. Gar-nier. The Villa contains a Library and a small Museum, which isopen to the public on Thurs. and Sun., from 12 to 4. Quitting thegarden at the other side, we follow the Rue de la Bibliotheque tothe Rue du Val, and then proceed to the left to St, Ayoul. Ratlw^ay to Troyes (continuation). — The train now passesthrough some pretty wooded valleys, and beyond (571/2 M.) The chiefpoints of interest in the interior are some of the paintings and theorgan-loft (16th cent.). — Near Nogent stood the abbey of Paraclet,founded in 1123 by the celebrated Abelard, who was interred herealong with Heloise; the empty vault is all that remains. We now cross the Seine and ascend its valley to Troyes. 741/2 M.Pont-sur-Seine is a village with the modern chateau of M. Jean Ca-simir Perier, which we see to the right before reaching the station.In the neighbourhood is a stalactite cavern IV4 M. long. 80 M. RomUly-sur-Seine (Buffet-Hotel; Cygne de la Croix), anindustrial place with 8000 inhab. and large railway-works.
