Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway, showcasing the country's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway from 1940 to 1945:
  • M1926 Swedish military steel helmet (likely) used by the "Police troops," the Norwegian soldiers recruited from refugees and trained in Sweden during the war. These troops served in Norway during the liberation from the German Nazi occupants in May 1945, and were responsible for maintaining order and arresting collaborators following the German capitulation. The helmet features a painted stencilled monogram of King Haakon VII and a Flag decal, representing Norwegian national symbols, as well as the letter "D".
