| Description |
English: This is the old Bear Cave located at the base of Champlain Mountain in Acadia National park, Mount Desert Island, Maine. Bear cave is just around the corner from Champlain Mountain North Ridge Trail along one way section of the Park Loop road, in woods on the right hand side. Directions to locating this old cave; drive along the One Way section of the Park Loop Road until you come to a large pond on your right, the pond comes right up close to the road on your right - you can't miss it. Just past the pond is a curve ahead with a parking area, park there. Cross the roadf and walk along the right hand side of the road in the same direction as the traffic until you come to an area of woods ahead. Look into woods and you will see a large black area, that is the opening of the cave. This cave does not go straight back but goes sideways into the mountain side.
