Summary[edit]

Description PKP Ok22 Class 4-6-0 No.Ok22-23 at Jaworzyna Slaska Museum Depot, 23 November 2017. The Ok22's were the first locomotives designed (jointly with Hanomeg in Germany) built in Poland after WWI, 5 prototypes being built by Hanomeg in 1923 and 185 production machines with improvements being built by Fablok in 1928-34. They were a development of the Ok1 Class - KPEV (Prussian) Class P8 (DRG Class 38) built in 1906-23 - with a larger firebox and grate which necessitated a higher pitched boiler. The superheater and boiler heating surface was also increased. Germany took over all Poland's Ok22's and incorporated them in the DRB as Class 38.45 but at the end of the war they were repatriated to the PKP. They had 5'9" driving wheels, 43 sq.ft. grate area, 22.5"x25" cylinders, 171 psi boiler pressure, and weighed 74.4 tons. One of only two surviving Ok22's.
