Description |
Drugi znany w twórczości artystki nokturn pejzażowy, obok Widoku z okna pracowni artystki w Monachium, jest swego rodzaju „portretem” katedry w Pizie p.w. Matki Boskiej Wniebowziętej (Santa Maria Assunta). Zbudowana w latach 1063–1118 w stylu romańskim, na planie krzyża łacińskiego, uległa pożarowi w 1595 roku i została odbudowana na początku XVII wieku. Campo dei Miracoli, z zespołem cmentarnym, słynną krzywą wieżą, baptysterium i katedrą, której mury wzniesione z jasnego i ciemnego granitu, nadają wyjątkowej elegancji, było jedną z ważniejszych atrakcji dla turystów o wyraźnie zaznaczonych gustach artystycznych. Mocny cień na ścianę transeptu rzuca niewidoczna na obrazie krzywa wieża pizańskiej dzwonnicy. (Urszula Kozakowska-Zaucha) |
