English: Original plan for the route of the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway in Washington, D.C., in the United States. The parkway was approved by Congress in 1923, and this plan dates from 1924. North is to the left. The Lincoln Memorial is in the upper right hand corner (the boxy silhouette). Notice that the National Mall around the memorial remains bare of paths, streets, and landscaping. |
