A scene near the russian ridge open space preserve in Palo Alto along California state route 35 locally known as skyline blvd. the elevation along this area is around 2000ft above sea level(speaking of sea level the pacific ocean lies a mere 25 miles or so due west). I shot this on a whim returning from a shoot with my friend Lorenzo. as the fog was dominating the bay and the valley communities to the east, and advancing from the west, there were occasional clearings along the road near the vista point i happened to be parked at. I snapped a few quick shots and within about 15 mins the entire ridge was socked in fog and the stars disapeared being replaced by a purplish, amber haze that blanketed the surrounding landscape. I would love to return to this locale sometime soon and capture the milky way on a clearer night. in the meantime this was nice to go home with. to see light like this within the sprawling metropolis of the silicon valley and the bay area is still amazing to me and worth witnessing.
