Description
English: First of three wars fought here, also known as the Blackhawk War during the American-Indian Conflict in 1832. The Kickapoo Tribe were followers of Chief Blackhawk and were killing miners and settlers. Colonel Dodge led the charge to attack the Kickapoo, of only seventeen members. Forty-seven days later the Blackhawk War ended, giving access to southern Wisconsin, Lafayette, Dane and Vernon Counties.
