Text on reverse: MAMMIFÈRES BIZARRES; 1) Le Maki.; Le Maki est un animal appartenant à un groupe auquel on a donné le nom de lémuriens. Leur patrie est l'île de Madagascar. Mais il y a aussi des lémuriens aux Indes et aux îles de la Sonde. Ce fait a donné lieu à l'hypothèse que dans les temps géologiques la grande île africaine était reliée à l'Asie et formait un continent que les savants ont appelé la Lémurie.; Les quatre membres du maki sont terminés par de véritables mains avec pouces opposables et des ongles plats comme ceux des singes et des humains, sauf au second orteil qui a une véritable griffe. Cette conformation des extrémités leur permet de mener une vie arboricole. Ils sont aussi lestes que les singes et frugivores comme eux. Alors que les vrais singes ont la face glabre et le museau aplati, les makis ont la face poilue et le museau pointu. Beaucoup de ces animaux sont nocturnes et ont alors de très grands yeux.; ; |
