VI. LES PHRYGANES (PHRYGANEA GRANDIS) Les Phryganes sont ces curieux Névroptères, dont la larve se construit un étui mobile, dans lequel elle se cache et qu'elle entraine avec elle dans ses déplacements. Suivant les espèces, il y a des fourreaux faits de feuilles vertes découpées, de brindilles mortes, de petits cailloux et même de coquilles de petits mollusques. Ces larves sont surtout végétariennes, bien qu'à l'occasion elles ne dédaignent pas une proie vivante. Notre vignette montre divers types de fourreaux, dans l'eau. Au-dessus. nous voyons la grande Phrygane (Phryganea grandis) à l'état parfait, qui mesure 21 m/m. La nymphe sort de l'eau pour opérer sa métamorphose. Alors que les Ephémères ont, au repos, les ailes collées verticalement comme les papillons diurnes, les Phryganes les replient horizontalement, comme les papillons de nuit. |
