Ouverture panoramique sur la ville dans le musée d'art de la Suisse Italienne avec une vue sur le Monte Brè Les photos des oeuvres sont interdites dans le musée, seule la photo du panorama est autorisée.
Le bâtiment a été conçu par l'architecte Ivano Gianola, l'un des représentants les plus connus de l'Ecole du Tessin. Il comprend, autour d'une piazza que l'on voit sur la photo, un très grand hall d'accueil, un théâtre, un auditorium pour la musique, un musée, des espaces d'exposition et plusieurs salles polyvalentes plus petites. La 19ème édition du prix Möbius des multimédias Lugano s'est déroulée dans une de ces salles. La surface totale du LAC, hors piazza, est de 29.000 m2. La construction du bâtiment a été accompagnée de la restauration des bâtiments historiques et des immeubles voisins. Le nouveau musée est appelé musée d'art de la Suisse Italienne (Art Museum of Italian Switzerland). Il regroupe des collections d'art ancien et moderne de très haut niveau. La première exposition des collections appelée "Horizons Nord-Sud" montre actuellement des oeuvres majeures de J.-B. Piranèse, W. Turner, A. Böcklin, G. de Chirico, F. Hodler, A. Wildt, F. Valloton, M. Rosso, G. Balla, S. Taeuber-Arp, M. Bill, P. Klee, L. Fontana, A. Giacometti... La première exposition temporaire est consacrée à l'artiste anglais Anthony McCall.
