Italiano: Bitonto, Cattedrale: parapetto della scala dell'ambone.
Deutsch: Kanzel in der Kathedrale von Bitonto. Während des sog. sechsten Kreuzzugs von Stauferkaiser Friedrich II. war die Stadt Bitone kurzzeitig von Kaiser Friedrich II. abgefallen. Schon zur danach wurde die Stadt Bitone zurückgewonnen. Das bedeutendste Kunstwerk der Kirche ist die Kanzel von Meister Nicolas aus dem Jahr 1229. Das Kanzelrelief an der Außenseite des Aufganges ist ein Lehrstück der staufischen Reichsmetaphysik. Der Aufgang zur Kanzel wurde 1229 zum Sühnedenkmal. Im Relief wurden die vier staufische Herrscher in direkter aufsteigender Linie nebeneinander dargestellt. Großvater Friedrich I. Barbarossa, sein Zepter in der Linken an seinen Sohn Heinrich weiterreichend. Daneben - eine Stufe höher - Enkel Friedrich II. und als letztes dessen Sohn Konrad IV. Eine Krone haben nur zwei, nämlich Friedrich I. als Begründer der Dynastie und Friedrich II. als der derzeit Herrschende. |
