In the event, the opening was in 13June 1954 due to overruns although on 1 August 1953 a section had been opened for back and forth running.. There is no mention in the website of the FDJ, the DDR Pionier organisation, as usual German history is recorded selectively. The <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkeisenbahn_Chemnitz" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Wikipedia Page</a> gives a more reliable account of the history of the line. THis 100hp diesel locomotive was acquired from the VEB Hainichender Ziegelwerke, Hainichen Brickworks in 1983 as no 6003 to follow the two earlier locomotives. The first Pionier Railway , operated by young communists, was opened in Tbilisi in the former USSR in 1935. Twelve pionier railways were built in the DDR and run in part by the Pionier Organisation FDJ Freie Deutsche Jugend.
